Wandering about technology.
I confess an enduring bewilderment at the speed of technology. We drive 80 miles an hour, and think it moderate, safe, manageable. Then there's the speed at which our crew will fly to London (in two weeks time), and on to Tel Aviv, then north to Moscow, continent-hopping with hardly the time to contemplate transitions: spatial, cultural, psychological?
I type at the speed of 64 words per minute, editing and erasing, shuffling ideas and modes of expression as I go. We're sitting in Montreal; I'm composing a letter to friends on three continents. And NOW, a minute later? all 700 of you have an idea of where I am (going), in mind, body and spirit.
In the next room our teen host, Oliver Lewis, composes on the fly, electronic music using his REASON and RECYCLE software. He mixes Hardcore while e-chatting with his own friends all across Canada.
Perhaps the ultimate gauge to the usefulness of any tool is its ability to enhance our knowledge of the world. I hope there are some among you who feel inspired to share their tech and notions. Thanks to divers technologies our crew is able to pursue and execute an ambitious project like Adolescent Sublime.
